The month of the Wood Goat is the image of desert rose, a rare and delicate flower growing in a harsh arid environment. Of course every rose has its thorn and like the flowering cactus it comes with barbs as well. In order to grow in a challenging landscape hope, determination, and self preservation are needed, and most importantly water.
It is quite fitting that the hexagram for this month is #48 The Well; water trigram Kan over the wood trigram Xun. This hexagram reminds us to replenish ourselves not only in a literal sense with rest and relaxation, but also in an emotional and spiritual sense by tending to our inner source as well. The imagery of this hexagram is not only of the water in the well but also the wooden bucket used to draw the water to us. This speaks to the importance of having a method or mode of reaching our own source of replenishment and that without it the water is out of our reach. It’s a good month to examine how we replenish ourselves, do we even have a way to do this? Are the methods we are currently using working for us? Perhaps this is a month to try new t0ols to reach our source within, we may find we are far less thorny when we do.
Having a practice to cultivate our inner equilibrium will be really important this month as the energy could be intense. This is the month which clashes the year bringing both change as well as challenges. This is also a month when those who have the Bully Punishment in their chart may experience interpersonal challenges as well as a tendency to be unkind to themselves. When this happens remember to communicate as clearly as possible and if that should fail simply return to your Well.
The good news is that while the Ox and Goat may clash one another and contribute to the Bully Punishment, they are also the Nobleman for the majority of People.
