When we look at the 4 Pillars chart for this year there is a fight between fire and water – between hope and optimism and fear and pessimism. As we entered the metal season last month the scales have tipped in favor of fear and pessimism as clearly seen in the economic slowdown and slower than expected jobs creation due to a rise in Coronavirus cases all over the globe. The Fire of the Fire Monkey and Fire Rooster months are small flickers of light, like a sparkler, and certainly no match for the strength of metal and water as we head into the most yin part of the year.
So what to do then when things seem stacked against progress?
Well, the Fire Rooster pillar has a number of special qualities which we would do well to emulate this month. The Fire Rooster pillar is one of the scholarly pillars and encourages us to learn more and develop our skillset as knowledge is power. The Fire Rooster pillar is also one of ten spiritual pillars which could inspire us to work on our own spiritual and energetic cultivation at this time to help us see more clearly in dark times. Last but certainly not least, the Fire Rooster is also a Day Noble Pillar which can help us to strengthen our connection to others, both in terms of seeking Nobleman support and also in being a nobleman to others. Even in trying times we can never go wrong if we work on developing these 3 areas of our lives.
The hexagram for this month is #31 Mutual Influence or Wooing which is perfectly befitting of this Peach Blossom month. While this hexagram often speaks to romantic relationships Mutual Influence shows us how to foster relationships of all kinds. The best way to cultivate long lasting relationships is to be unselfish and to keep an open mind and open heart. Not only is Yin Fire like a spark it also represents the heart – this month when relating to others make sure it comes from your heart.
