Month of the Water Rabbit

Sunday, March 5, is the first day of the Water Rabbit month and the beginning of the solar term called “Awakening of Worms”. This is the time when  snow gives way to rain, birds serenade the morning light, and buds begin to swell and bloom. In fact, the imagery of the Yin Water Rabbit is of rain watering small plants and flowers. This is the season of wood, when things begin to grow and expand once more – and spring is here in earnest.

The Rabbit, like the Rooster of the year, is what we call a ‘Peach Blossom’ animal sign which is a romance star.  Rabbits in most cultures are also associated with fertility as well. So, it is possible that many this month will find themselves in the mood for love, especially if the Rabbit or Rooster are personal peach blossom stars, according to one’s astrology chart.

While pastoral spring scenes may look serene, don’t be fooled by the bunnies and Easter eggs, the energy this month is not likely to be quiet. In fact you may come to a new understanding of the term ‘Mad as a March Hare‘ this month.

In Chinese Metaphysics, the East, which is the home of the Rabbit, is represented by the wood element and also by the trigram Thunder.  As the energy of this month is a complete top to bottom clash with the energy of the year, the quality of this month will be less about wood and more about the shocking and arousing Thunder. Thunder, while frightening, is meant to get our attention and spur us to action, so pay attention.

Well suited to this Peach Blossom year-clash month, the hexagram is #54 Marrying Maiden. You would think with a name like that it would be a positive hexagram, however, this hexagram does not portend good outcomes. Marrying Maiden is about things seem good or that start off well but don’t end well. The emphasis and warning here pertains particularly to relationships. This month is a time to take an unflinching look and truthfully examine your relationships. Are they appropriate?  Is there a healthy balance of give and take?  Do they build you up or tear you down? Are you empowered or disempowered by them? If you find that certain relationships are not serving you, then it is time to consider whether or not you should continue them or at least change the dynamic within them. It may be time for some pruning or spring cleaning where people are concerned.

Important Dates:

IMPORTANT DATES:

Rooster People: This is your clash month so use caution in general especially on Rabbit days which are March 5, 17  & 29.  This month your clash days are also the Year Breaker days so slow down and pay attention.

INAUSPICIOUS DATES:
These are the days that are generally inauspicious for everyone, days to use caution on, and unsuitable for important events or activities.

Month Breaker: These are days with unstable energy, days when things just don’t go right. Caution is urged especially for Rabbit people as these are also your personal clash days and they are March 11, 23 and April 4.

Year Breaker: Though not generally as volatile as Month breaker days, these are still days to use caution, especially Rooster people since these are your personal clash days and they are March 5, 17 & 29.

AUSPICIOUS DATES:
These are the days that are generally lucky for everyone, except those who clash with it. These are great days to plan important events or activities.

Success Days: March 13 & 25 – Success days generally bring good outcomes for all endeavors except for legal activity.  This month success days are Pig days which combine with the month giving them an extra boost of good luck.  Tiger, Rabbit and Goat people will see the most benefit from these days (Clash to Snake people).

Initiate Days: March 10, 22 & April 3  – Spring is all about new growth and new beginnings and Initiate days are the best days to use if you want to start off on the right foot so to speak. Snake, Dragon and Rat people especially will benefit from the energy of these days (Clash to Tiger people).

FENG SHUI:
This month also brings new monthly energy to each of the 9 sectors and here are the highlights.

Northeast: Those who wish to capitalize on their peach blossom or romance luck this month would do well to spend more time in the Northeast as the auspicious #1 star is combining favorably with the #4 star in residence in this sector for the year.  The 1-4 combination is also excellent for study or writing so if these are priorities for yourself, or for your children, then this is a great area to make the most of.

East: The East has the #8 wealth star for the year which makes it one of the best sectors generally speaking. This month however the negative #5 yellow is visiting so this would not be a good month to do any wealth activations and it is a good idea to keep this area quiet in general for now, especially East 2 which is the Year-Breaker sector.

I am so pleased to collaborate again this month with a  fellow small business owner, and am thrilled to feature an original watercolor painting called Blue Bunny by artist Alisa Adamsone. This piece is available for sale along with many other lovely paintings on her Etsy store using the link below.  Many thanks Alisa! https://www.etsy.com/listing/400458673/blue-bunny-original-watercolor-painting
