Month of the Fire Goat

What is going on?! Why is the world going crazy?! What is all of this happening right now?!

These are frequent statements these days as we deal with war, economic trouble, political division, and the lingering impacts of illness and a global pandemic.

For those of us who work in Chinese Metaphysics we are no less saddened or upset about these challenging times but we do know why all of this is happening now.

You see, we are moving into the final stretch of our transition from one 20 year cycle into another and this transition is an unstable time of shifting sands and uncertainty and things are ramping up as we approach this new era. There are always challenges at the transition points between 20 year cycles but our movement from a period of relatively stable Earth to that of Fire is more dramatic than others because fire is an unstable and transformative element. This is the period that sets the world alight.

We are moving away from Period 8 a time that supports Male energy into Period 9 a time that supports Feminine energy and there are many who don’t like it. There are those who want to go back to the way things used to be (the familiar) but we aren’t going that way. Those who wish to retain their power are doing everything they can to grasp and hold on to this power. What they don’t understand though is that nothing they can do will stop the shift of energy that is already underway. In grasping to hold on to power they have overreached and this moment is a test for us all, especially women.

The new 20 year era represented by Li Gua or Fire brings the mantel of leadership to women because it is connected to Qian Gua which represents  the head of state or ruler. The last time we experienced Period 9 Queen Victoria ruled the British Empire and the Dowager Empress ruled China. We are once again in a time when Women can ascend to these roles as heads of state and captains of industry but are we willing to assume the responsibility that comes with leadership?

The events of this week have shown women under attack but it has also shown that women are stepping up, and stepping forward, bringing truth into the light, and bravely taking the lead, most notably Liz Cheney and Cassidy Hutchinson.

The energy of this month the Fire Goat, gives us an idea of how positive change can be achieved as the image of this pillar is of a bonfire, the fire of home and hearth, the fire that brings people together to nurture and sustain. This month’s energy calls for unity, because working together for a common purpose is where the real power to make a change lies. The bigger the fire, the faster the change.

As the Chinese proverb says “When sleeping women wake, mountains move”.

Ladies, it is time to wake up and move mountains.

The hexagram this month #18 Poison or Remedying is also a call to action, a call to change. The imagery of this hexagram is of a decayed and rotten situation which requires action be taken as the old situation is toxic and poisonous. It likens the situation to rotten food which obviously cannot be eaten it must be thrown out immediately. This month we must be rid of toxic and rotten situations and seek a remedy or die. It is time for us all to make changes as we move into this new era. We all must begin to remedy the problems around us now as the remainder of the year will prove quite challenging and darker days will be upon us especially next month,

We must stop swallowing the poison and move mountains – when we work together we can. May the remaining fire of this month ignite and inspire you, male and female, to make a difference and remedy the maladies in our world.
