Month of the Water Monkey

Water Monkey Month: August 8 – September 7

This monkey is an intense monkey.

The Yang Water of this month brings the immense power of an ocean, and represents sheer intellect and the power of the mind. This is an intelligent, shrewd, resourceful monkey and a bit more serious than the other monkey pillars.

This month marks the halfway point of the year, and it also marks a distinct change in energy as well. Strong water supported by this metal month ushers in several months and years which are dominated by water.

Water in the classic Chinese imagery, especially as described in the I Ching, represents darkness and danger. This month we make a turn to some less certain times and territory, where fear is an emotion that drives and motivates the actions of many. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to maintain the light and not give in to fear and negativity. This month remember that knowledge is power and get all the facts before taking action, and then take action based on what you know not based on what you are afraid of.

This month’s hexagram is #7 called both Officer and The Army or Multitude. The single Yang line of this hexagram represents a leader of many people, one who commands respect and is followed by others. This type of leadership is servant leadership, an of the people – by the people – for the people style of leader and certainly not a top down paradigm.  It tells us that to be a leader one should have humility and lead alongside others not lord over them. This is a leader who is one of the people and can relate to their constituents with real empathy. It’s a good month to ask yourself in what ways you provide leadership among your circle of friends and colleagues, are there areas where you can or should step up? It also asks us to consider leaders around us and ask what kind of leadership they offer. As we head into election season here in the US this is certainly a very timely consideration as we select those who will lead the multitude.

The Monkey is one of the 4 ‘Sky Horse‘ or  Travel Star animals of the Chinese Zodiac.  If it happens to be your personal travel star animal you may find your self traveling more this month for work or for pleasure. For those who are Yin Wood and Yin Earth Day Master people, the Monkey represents your personal nobleman star which makes this a great month to ask for help when you need it or even to hire support staff. If you act now your chances of getting what you need from others is much higher so just ask!  (Find out your personal Sky Horse animal and your Day Master Element here: https://bethgracefengshui.com/bazi-chinese-astrology/astrology-charts/
