Fire Rooster Year: Outlook

Last year at this time, we who work in Chinese Metaphysics were warning that the Fire Monkey year would be volatile. We expected a ‘crazy monkey’ if you will owing to the yang fire tendency to be rash and do the unexpected, and the strong clash between the yang fire and the metal of the monkey.  Well, 2016 certainly lived up to expectations as ‘crazy’ and the whole world seems to have been turned upside down as evidenced by the surprising Brexit vote in Britain, and the election of Donald Trump as president of the Divided States.

No matter where you stand on either side of the political debates in the world, there is one thing we all generally agree on and that is that 2016 was a challenging year!

This year, people are asking me what will the coming year be like while saying under their breath, it can’t get worse than this year!  Well not to be the bearer of bad tidings but things don’t look like they will be particularly smooth this year either as it is another fire & metal element
clash year. Rooster is pure metal with no other hidden elements to soften the clash. Yin fire and yin metal can mean bullets so it could be a year where change brings armed conflicts and even violence.

Fire is the element of change and transformation which we have seen affecting people globally this past year for better or worse.  Yin fire of this year is like candlelight and represents both inspiration and spirituality. From one candle light many can be lit, but it also takes one match to start a forest fire. This year we can expect more changes coming and our task is to steer the force of this change for the bettering of our world and the greater good.
The personality of the Rooster is quite different from the mischievous Monkey however, and that will certainly change the dynamic of the year.  The rooster is showy and proud and is also one of the ‘Peach Blossom’ or romance star animals in the Chinese zodiac – a much more seductive character than the monkey.  For those whose personal peach blossom animal is the Rooster it can bring more social excitement and romance this year or at the very least a boost to business networking.  We may see change that comes in a more sexy and alluring form this year.

Yin fire is also the element that is used to forge metal, to shape it and make useful and refined.  Yin fire and yin metal together can create beautiful things as well, think of the goldsmith’s craft or electricity and metal meeting in the computer chip. This combination of elements supports industries airlines and the tech industry which could get a boost from the energy of this year.

Despite the fire-metal clash of the year, the strongest element by far is metal.  Metal related industries like jewelry, automotive, mechanical and finance for example should do quite well this year as the dominant ‘force’ of the year is with them.

The second strongest element this year is water.  Water represents communication and travel primarily.  This should give support to diplomacy and dialogue which is useful in times of change and can help steer the force of change away from violence and opposition to cooperation and collaboration.  Water industries seem poised for growth this year and that includes travel and tourism, trading, transport, as well as journalism and those in think-tank or strategy related fields.

Wood related fields should be able to see new opportunities this year as well. So if you are in fashion & textiles, furnishings, education, plant-based products or herbal medicine, be on the look out for ways to expand and reach new clients.

The outlook for Earth related industries does not look very strong this year as it is greatly weakened by metal.  If you are in insurance or property and real estate you may need to find ways to be creative and create a niche for yourself within your field, or do something that makes you stand out from the crowd as there will be a lot of competition for you this year.

Without doubt the Fire element has the force of the year with it.  Profits will be up in fire related industries, such as restaurants, entertainment & media, energy, IT, beauty, and PR or promotions. Since fire is also the element of spirituality and metaphysics those in the alternative fields like yoga, Reiki, energy healing, and Feng Shui could see breakthroughs in their businesses and better income as well.

Overall, those with metal and fire in their personal astrology chart are best poised to take advantage of this year’s energy and make the most of it, particularly when it comes to making connections with the right people.  If you are not sure what advantages your chart gives you, now is a great time to schedule a reading to prepare to make the most of this new year.

Where you live could also give you a boost as the year energy affects the globe differently based on the Feng Shui of each country.  In general, those in the Americas will fare better than those in Asia, and the East Coast of the United States will generally do better than the West coast this year.

Of course you also want to make sure the Feng Shui of your home and office are updated for the year so your plans receive maximum support and to harness the best energy of the year to get ahead.
