The month of the Earth Dragon will arrive on Sunday, April 5 and with it an intensification of the Dragon energy of the year. A Dragon month in a Dragon year brings twice the punch!
The doubling effect of two Dragons is also accompanied by a total Solar eclipse that will echo the intensity of this month. Many cannot handle the energetic amplification that a solar eclipse brings which is why it is generally considered inauspicious to be outdoors and exposed directly to a solar eclipse. For the sake of your own energy, not to mention your eyes, it might be better to watch this astronomical and astrological event on a screen from indoors. The direct path of the eclipse will impact the United States most directly with a path that will make its way from Texas to Maine. So what does the Doubled Dragon and Eclipse energy mean in practical terms? In short, a lack of clarity and a great deal of change.
The image of the Earth Dragon is a large mountain range which when coupled with another Dragon Year energy, can have the effect of hiding the sun as does a solar eclipse. In either case, a loss of sunlight plunges people into the shadows without the brightness of the Sun which represents clarity, vision and sight. As the old proverb says, without vision the people perish. Which is to say that when people don’t have a vision or clear idea of where to go or what to do, it is very difficult to plan a course of action or to know what direction to head towards. This month many could feel lost in illusion, doubt or fear. This would not be a great time to make major changes or make important decisions as many matters will have a shadow of uncertainty hovering over them.
What one can expect of double Dragons this month in short is change. As I said in February, the chart for the year contains two major clashes, one between the Tiger and Monkey and between the Earth Dog and Dragon making this one of the four months of the year where a great deal of change and upheaval can be expected in the world at large. Even those who do have clarity and a solid action plan may find that external circumstances are less than favorable for moving forward with confidence.
The metaphor for the clash between the Dragon and the Dog is an earthquake, both literal and metaphorical. Seismic activity in the Earth may be experienced as well as seismic shifts in culture, economics, politics, and global conflicts already set in motion. This can bring chaos and challenges on a global scale, and a great deal of uncertainty and unpredictability. Not all of these changes will necessarily be negative, as the Zodiac sign of the Dragon is Libra many of these changes will bring a balancing of karma, so wrongs can be righted and ills can be cured though the process of bringing that about can be quite challenging.
Those who have a Dog in their chart, for whom big changes are most likely this year, could find themselves experiencing or embarking those changes this month. If this is true for you, seeking sage advice or nobleman support in this time of change and uncertainty would be wise.

Given the lack of clarity in the midst of seismic shifts, how is one to navigate in these challenging times? Luckily the I Ching hexagram of this month #10 called Tread offers excellent advice. The ancient text says ‘treads on the tail of the tiger, does not bite’. This text depicts a situation of stress and anxiety, more to the point being close enough to step on a tiger’s tail would be a time of sheer terror. The advice offered by this hexagram is that when faced with a dangerous or perilous situation, the best way to proceed is to tread very carefully! This is a time to proceed as though walking on thin ice. Given the impact of the double Dragons and the solar eclipse, this is a month where caution and conservative action would be wise. The ancient text also offers hope in that even when stepping on the tiger’s tail it does not bite. The insight here is that if one takes care to move very carefully at this time, one can emerge unscathed from the difficulty. This month, the tiger in your own life could take many forms, therefore it would be wise to slow down spending more time in observation and planning rather than take risky action.
