Month of the Wood Ox

January 5 – February 4

Happy 2019 everyone and welcome to the month of the Wood Ox which begins on Saturday.

The imagery of the Wood Ox pillar is that of lovely small plants in the winter snow.  This month brings the winter season to a close and reminds us that despite the cold weather, spring flowers are not far away.

This is also the final month of the year in the Chinese calendar and a good time to take stock of our lives and make preparations for the New Year which begins on February 4.  This is the best month to literally and metaphorically clean house; tidy up and let go of what we don’t want to carry into the New Year. Make amends, let go of situations or people that drain you, or even clean out your closet.

Use this your month to get really clear about what you want and where you want to go this year. Solidify your  intentions and plans for the new year so you can hone in on which Feng Shui sectors to use to help you achieve your goals. More information about that will be in my annual forecast which is coming very soon so stay tuned!

The hexagram for this month is #21 called Biting or Eradicating. The lines of this hexagram resemble an open mouth with an obstruction in it.  The advice of this hexagram is pretty practical and states the obvious. If there’s something stuck in your craw so to speak, you simply need to bite through it – remove the obstruction.  This month you should be truly honest with yourself and ask what is your obstruction? What is in your way?  What’s holding you back? Are there words stuck in your throat that need to be uttered? What is the thing or situation that you need to eradicate in order to move forward with your life’s purpose? Once you have identified your obstruction use this month to take action and eradicate it from your life.

TIMING:

Goat people this is your clash month, and with the year energy this month brings a bully punishment as well. You may find yourself butting heads with people this month or feeling pushed around, sometimes it is necessary to stand your ground so you may need to bully right back.

If you are a Yang Wood, a Yang Earth, or a Yang Metalperson, the Ox is one of your nobleman or helpful people stars. This is a good month to get help. So ask for what you need and most importantly allow yourself to receive it!

INAUSPICIOUS DATE:

Every month contains a number of inauspicious days, this month as we prepare to head into the New Year let’s focus on making the most of what is positive this month to set the tone for the New Year.

AUSPICIOUS DATES:

17 January, Wood Tiger, Remove Day

29 January , Fire Tiger, Remove Day

2 February, Metal Horse, Initiate Day

Speaking of eradicating, this is a great month to clean out, clean up and let go of what no longer serves us and enter the new year a bit lighter. Both January 17 & January 29 are Remove Days which are perfect days to rid yourself of what you don’t want to carry into the new year, including extra weight!

February 2 is the best day to set your intentions and ready your home in anticipation of the New Year. Be sure to see my upcoming annual forecast for more detailed information on each sector  – coming soon so stay tuned!

FENG SHUI:

The worst sectors this month is the North: The negative annual 5 Yellow star is still residing in the North this last month of the year so continue to keep it quiet but do go ahead and make plans for how you want to use this space in the coming year as it will be a very auspicioussector beginning February 4.

The best sector this month is Northwest:  The energy in this sector is great for attraction and likability. Use this sector if you want to be seen and noticed!
