Month of the Earth Horse
June 6 – July 5
On Tuesday, June 6 we will enter the month of the Earth Horse and the peak of the fire season. Of the Horse Pillars, the Earth Horse is particularly potent and offers unique energy to affect change in our lives. The fire energy is ramping up not only because we are in the peak of the fire season but also because we are quickly approaching fiery Period 9 which we will enter fully in February. You may notice things all around you intensifying and speeding up, this is not to be feared but expected as we experience the shift to this dynamic 20 year cycle.
The Horse is one of the Cardinal Zodiac signs in Chinese astrology as it represents the cardinal direction of due South. These cardinal signs are also known as the four Peach Blossom zodiac signs. What this means in short is that the summer of love is more likely to kick off in this month than any other month of the summer. If your day pillar contains the Snake, Rooster or Ox this could be a particularly romantic or at least a more socially active month for you. Of the energy available this month, the most significant aspect is that the Earth Horse is one of 10 Spiritual Pillars. This month is a particularly powerful month to use the fire energy of this season as a catalyst for spiritual growth and cultivation. This is a great month to feed the inner fires with the spiritual modality that speaks to you, or to learn and practice a new skill to connect you to your spirit and soul. Having spiritual tools and practices to center and ground us during these rapidly shifting times will be essential and there is no time like the present to invest in your own spiritual wellbeing.
The hexagram for this month is #50 Cauldron or as Master Huang translates it Establishing the New. A cauldron is a vessel heated with fire for cooking or making offerings. It does have ancient spiritual and ritualistic meanings in many cultures. In the I Ching it becomes a metaphor for the fire within us that we can harness to create alchemy within. When we use fire to transform our lives it necessitates burning away and releasing outmoded ways of being. As this hexagram follows hexagram 49 Revolution, the great message of this hexagram is that to create change old conditions need to fall away so that better conditions can be created. In order to establish a new and better order transformation must take place which necessitates letting go. This is an ideal month to go inward, be self honest, and to truly let go of what is holding you back so you can transform and grow into a more expansive and authentic version of yourself.
