4 Pillars Perspective on Kobe Bryant’s Passing

When someone learns that I am a Chinese astrologer a common question I am asked is, can you tell from a chart when someone will die? My answer is always an unequivocal NO.

There are 2 reasons for this, one is that there are things we are just not meant to know, and two an astrology chart cannot account for human luck or the choices we make and the actions we take. Many times the difference between life and death is in our own hands.

An astrology chart can however tell us when we are more vulnerable. This is the reason we study astrology, to give us both the insight and foresight we need to make better human luck choices and to take better human luck actions.

In looking at Kobe Bryant’s chart upon his tragic untimely death this week it is very clear to see that he was quite vulnerable at this point in time.

Kobe Bryant’s chart is that of a person with great talent that produces his wealth. As a Yin Fire person born in the Autumn season and at the time of day which is of the setting sun, his fire is a vulnerable flame. With no wood in his chart to feed the fire, the support he receives from the Horse and Snake are critical for him.

He entered this current luck cycle of Wood Rat at 35, and while it contains wood which he needs, this wood combines with the Yin Earth in his hour making more Earth so more output instead of support. The biggest threat of this luck cycle is the Rat which clashes on his Horse removing an important source of fire support.

This year of course has been the Pig year which also clashes on his Day branch animal the Snake. This clash takes away even more fire, and further more, a clash to one’s day pillar can result in illness or injury.  The power of these two simultaneous water clashes intensifying as we head into the Rat year tipped the scales to a dangerous level leaving him very vulnerable.

Would knowing this have changed things for him, we can not know as this  tragic accident involves the fates of the other passengers as well. We simply cannot control or know everything. However, in times when we know we are vulnerable we can certainly be more cautious and avoid taking unnecessary risks and take preventative measures.

May all the victims and their families find peace.
